– For the second time in as many weeks, Manhattan College freshman catcher/third baseman Elena Bowman (San Mateo, Calif.) has been recognized for her outstanding play by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Bowman was named MAAC Rookie of the Week on Monday after hitting .316 with three home runs and seven RBIs in seven games last week.

Against Yale at the Stony Brook Invitational on Saturday, Bowman crushed her third three-run homer of the season, a shot to left field in the bottom of the first inning. She added an RBI on a groundout and finished 2-for-3 with three runs scored and four RBIs in the 14-11 victory. Then against Providence later on Saturday, Bowman put the Jaspers ahead with a two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning, turning a 4-3 deficit into a 5-4 lead in the eventual 6-4 win. She also smoked a double in the contest. Bowman then homered in her third straight game with a solo shot against Holy Cross on Sunday.
Bowman, who earned MAAC Player of the Week honors last week, leads the Jaspers with five home runs and 13 RBIs through 12 games this season. Manhattan (5-7) is currently in Kissimmee, Fla., for its annual appearance at the Rebel Spring Games.
