ORLANDO, Fla. – Junior Stephanie Pasquale went 3-for-4 with two homeruns, a double and three RBI, but it was not enough as the Temple softball team fell 17-8 to Georgia Tech on the final day of the Citrus Classic on Sunday, March 3. The Owls fall to 2-7 on the year.

Georgia Tech jumped out to a 2-0 lead through two and a half innings before the Temple offense got going again. The Owls scored three times in the bottom of the third to claim a 3-2 lead. Freshman Annie Marcopolus led off the inning with a single, and one out later, junior Sarah Prezioso drove her in with her own single. Pasquale then stepped in and sent her first homerun of the game over the right centerfield fence to bring in two.

The lead was shortlived, however, as the Yellow Jackets came back to plate two in the top of the fourth and go back on top, 4-3. Georgia Tech took advantage of three singles and two walks in the frame.

The Owls tied it up with another run in the bottom of the inning with freshman Leah Lucas’ solo homerun. That was as close as the Cherry & White would get. GT went on to score five runs in the fifith, and eight in the sixth.

TU got four back in the bottom of the sixth, thanks to three hits that included Prezioso and Pasquale homeruns, but it was not enough to prevent the mercy run-rule ending.

In addition to Pasquale with multiple hits, Prezioso was 2-for-3 with four RBI and Lucas was 2-for-3 with one run driven in. Sophomore Jessica Mahoney (0-4) took the loss, going 4.2 innings, allowing nine hits, nine runs, seven walks and striking out three.
